Another Classic Novel - 1984

This classic novel is definitely a popular amongst most classic novel admirers. 1984 is amazing book by George Orwell based on a totaliratian society run by "Big Brother".

"He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother."

No wonder why this is a classic novel. George Orwell is truely a genius and got me and millions of other readers hooked on every line.

  1. This is one of my favourite books. Its concepts are misquoted incredibly frequently, and the phrase "big brother" is usually used to refer to the terrible tv show nowadays, but it is an almost unparalleled novel in terms of both writing and imagination.

  3. I read this novel about once every 4 years or so. The most frightening book I know, but at the same time the affair that goes on in between the covers is so sexy. Incredible story, and warning of a soulless possible future

  7. Stuff like this happening in real life scares the shit out of me. The whole removal of emotion and being watched all the time is frightful.

  13. 1984 is an awesome novel, 100% of the way through. The only novel in my opinion that could even think about coming close is Huxley's Brave New World.

  14. I had to do a personal study on this book during high school, and it was great. Such a deep, interesting yet scary book, which is still relevant to society today. Hopefully our world never reaches the stage of control written about by Orwell.

  15. Great book - I love the state control aspects to it and how the limitation of language can be used to keep the working class from expressing their ideas...not that any of that happens with todays media
